Did you know that you get stronger when you are resting? 🤔
Well, you do need to train first and then you can turn into a couch potato without feeling guilty.
Physical activity requires energy and it depletes body’s resources. It is normal to feel tired after exercising and it is supposed to be like that.
Recovery is the physiological process of returning to normal physiological state after physical activity.
Body has this amazing power which is called supercompensation which means that after adequate load the recovery slightly exceeds the previous state. This is the fundament of training. You train, you get stronger. Easy as. I wish.
The problem is that sometimes people train as professionals but don’t rest as professionals. If you enjoy sports it’s not too difficult to get passionate and want to train more. However, if body doesn’t get proper recovery, the results of training can become dissapointing and one can lose his/hers motivation or just get injured.
Check whether you have the basics covered:
3 titans of recovery⬇️
🧎♂️Rest – which means that there is adequate time between training sessions
🍎 Food – balanced diet and adequately timed meals. Carbs for energy reserve renewal, protein to build muscle and other tissue, and fat for hormonal balance.
😴 Sleep – in sleep the growth hormone is released which is essential for building muscles. Professional/high level amateur athletes tend to take powernaps during the day too.
Other things that can be helpful and speed up the recovery:
💆♂️Massage💆♀️
🛁 water immersion therapy (including cold water, warm water, and contrast bathing)
👕 Compression garments
🧘♀️ Stretching
